Management Team
For over thirty five years, Martin Group has been actively involved in various community service projects. Our philosophy on community service closely aligns an Albert Einstein quote, "A person starts to live when he can live outside of himself." The benefits are mutual. Our community receives volunteers, donations, and support while Martin Group employees are rewarded with the pride and fulfillment of making a difference.

Our commitment to our community is steadfast. We are actively involved in service projects such as the Annual Radio Pie Auction, Area Community Theatre, Corn Palace Shriners, Douglas F. Martin/Martin Group Scholarship Fund, Heart & Sole Cancer Walk, Jeans for Charity, Lions Club, Mitchell Area Chamber of Commerce, Mitchell Area Development Corporation, Mitchell Community Scholarship Fund, Mitchell Safehouse Banquet, Mitchell School Activities, Rodeo Sponsorship, Salvation Army, Tough Enough to Wear Pink, and United Way.

We have highlighted several projects below:

Douglas F. Martin/Martin Group Scholarship Fund
"There's no telling how much good you can do,
if you don't care who gets the credit.
" - Doug Martin

In honor, appreciation, and memory of Douglas F. Martin, founding father of Martin Group, Martin Group sponsors two $2,500 college scholarships to two graduating seniors from Mitchell, South Dakota. The two individuals must be pursuing education in an area of engineering, computer science, or telecommunications.

The recipients of the Douglas F. Martin/Martin Group Scholarship in 2007 were Jacob Leland and John VerSteeg (shown at right with Martin Group representative Dave Fridley).

Mitchell Community Scholarship Fund
Martin Group is one of the main sponsors in the Mitchell Community Scholarship Fund. The concept behind this scholarship is to reward all high school seniors that apply for this scholarship. In 2006 the Mitchell community raised $33,000, allowing each senior to receive $300-$400.

Jeans for Charity
Martin Group's Jeans for Charity is a voluntary activity where weekly contributions allow employees to wear blue jeans each Friday. Started in 2002, the $1 fee is donated to causes that are chosen by the Jeans For Charity committee. Jeans for Charity provides Martin Group with the opportunity to support families in need and also worthwhile causes in our local community.

Heart & Sole Cancer Walk
The first Heart and Sole Cancer walk was held in 1998. As the walk grew and started earning up to $40,000, a co-committee was formed named the Mitchell Area Cancer Assistance Board (MACA). This board was formed to distribute the money to cancer survivors in the Mitchell Area. The first priority has been to help those with cancer. To date, the event raises close to $60,000 a year for cancer patients. Each year Martin Group enters a team of employees to participate in this great cause. Visit www.mitchellheartandsole.com for more information.

Mitchell Area Chamber of Commerce
Each year the Mitchell Area Chamber of Commerce hosts a city-wide golf tournament which provides community members an opportunity to interact with our local area Chamber. This also serves as a recruiting method in an effort to gain new members. Martin Group sponsored a hole. This event gives Martin Group the chance to interact with community members, as well as show our appreciation for the Chamber of Commerce.

United Way

Martin Group has been a proud supporter of the Mitchell United Way for over 30 years. Donations aid 24 needy agencies throughout the Mitchell community.

They work hard to aided new businesses and business improvements. With Martin Group's support, our local community can continue to pursue new areas of economic growth.
